You may be familiar with chiropractors, and you may not. If you have never been to one, then you probably are not familiar with the different techniques and treatments that chiropractors use. Sure they “crack your back” but there is a lot more to chiropractic care. TriMed SPine & Joint is going to walk you through one of the special therapies that they offer.
What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Spinal Decompression Therapy involves stretching the spine, using a traction table or similar motorized device, with the goal of relieving back pain and/or leg pain.
This non-surgical, non-invasive treatment provides gentle decompression of herniated or bulging discs through the use of a computerized, mechanical table. Using research-backed algorithms, a targeted, intermittent distraction force is applied to the spine. This creates a ‘vacuum effect’ within the disc. It is this “vacuum effect” that creates a retraction of the protruded disc.
Many different spinal decompression devices use the same theory of spinal traction that has been offered by chiropractors, osteopaths, and other appropriately trained health professionals for many years.
Both traction and decompression therapy are applied with the goals of relieving pain and promoting an optimal healing environment for bulging, degenerating, or herniated discs.
Dr. Cantor is part of a small group of Florida chiropractors that have achieved advanced certification in spinal decompression therapy. He has treated thousands of cases successfully, with significant relief often occurring within the first week of care. Dr. Cantor of TriMed SPine & Joint truly knows and loves what he does.
